Alfred Stieglitz

Alfred Stieglitz Photo-Set

'Window' Lake George, 1923

>The photo I choose is 'Mirror' which is a shot of Lake George in 1923.

>What really catches my eye is how simple it is.

>I don't know what Alfred's intention was. I think he was show just how beautiful nature can be even in one of the most bleary seasons.

>The tree in the bottom right corner tends to catch my eye when I look back on the photograph, if it was done intentionally or not, it still seems to be emphasized most.

>It takes the lack of color and uses that to give it a simple beauty. The contrast of the trees and the snow makes the tree impossible to ignore. I think the lack of color is what makes this photo so endearing.

>When I look at the photo I get a feeling of indifference. The photo, IMO, isn't trying to say something or make a point. It's like that its just a picture of nature in all of its unregulated beauty.

>I think what holds my attention is that there isn't a lot that is going on in the picture.

>I picked this photograph because, I liked how simplistic it was. People like to make great strides and do a lot at once but with this is just simple beauty. I don't know if Stieglitz was just restricted by the technology of his time, but, I find that hard to believe.
